Here’s some photos that Mike and Sandy took in April 2008 on a short driving vacation up to the Black Hills area in South Dakota. Thay had a GREAT time! They saw so much and stopped everywhere!! Fort Robinson, Wind Cave, mammoth fossil digs, Mount Rushmore, a fish hatchery in Spearfish (the biggest trout I’ve ever seen!!), Wall Drug, Chimney Rock, Fort Laramie, everything!! Sandy especially loved the Devils Tower area – really beautiful scenery.
There’s one in the Badlands where the deer are all bedded down – but you can see their ears sticking up very prominently!! It makes a great desktop picture on the computer. And – that’s Rent-A-Mike next to Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane’s graves in Deadwood. |

New photos from Susan Paul. On July 9th she summited Gannett Peak. At 13,804’ it's the highest point in Wyoming. It was Susan's 5th “State High Point” and entailed a 50-mile backpacking trip, carrying a 55-pound pack, and crossing two glaciers to get to the top of the peak. She completed it with fellow Colorado Springs highpointer, Doug Hatfield, in eight days. |
